for employers the school is much more important. unless your going for a VERY high position then they don't really look at your grades.

Look at George Bush. C's and D's at Yale, and became the Presy-dent. Not that I like george bush.

Once you have your degree from an Ivy League institution employers will rarely(if at all) be interested in your grades, simply the fact that you passed.

In Finland, the place where you graduated doesn't mean anything special.

You do realize that most people get B's and C's in Ivy league schools right? You are still more likely to get hired. You can also attend on scholarship too

this is what you're really asking: work your ass off at higher levels to get okay results, or slouch at average levels and be awesome.

I got A's at a standard university. Nobody cares. So did thousands of other people. People see that Ivy League Name on your resume, and it gets your foot in the door. Alumni in powerful places can, and will help you, or take you out on their yacht because you're "one of them".

You can easily graduate with B's and C's. Dean's List is cool and all, but Yale looks a lot prettier to potential employers.

Absolutely nothing wrong with Standard Universities. Better than a mere high school diploma.

Indeed. I don't want to go to an Ivy-League college, anyway.

Since I have to have B's and C's, I'll have two C's and the rest of my grades can be B's. A lot better than what I did in High School.

I chose the wrong one. Having the school under your belt works better than having a great GPA in some cases (depending on your field and continuation for masters and PHD's).

Most people get B's and C's at Ivy League. You'll still get an awesome job even if you're at the bottom.

as long as you pass, ivy league carries SO much more weight than standard. plus you make connections really high up in your field of study

The students that get straight As end up with great jobs, working for the students that got Cs and Ds. It's not about what you know, it's about who you know. Ivy League alums offer so much more opportunity than a state college.

It all depends on what you're looking for. I wouldn't rather be at an Ivy League school than where I am right now, it's not about the title for everyone.

In some cases, D's get degrees. As long as they're not important to your major.

Better grades, plus I would much rather go to a regular college anyway. Same education and is much cheaper. People shouldn't care which school you go to, as long as you get good grades. In the Ivy League, it's not really what you know, it's who you know. I would much rather be smart than have so-called "connections".

Saying you graduated from an Ivy league school is much more impressive; people don't normally ask about your grades. Plus getting into one either means I'm really smart or at least somewhat wealthy.
