Why would you assuming the "emo" choice doesn't apply dressing emo, but the "gothic" choice does? Like you said you can be emo and not dress that way, gothic is a state of mind, not a dress code. Besides they dress so similarly regardless, one just has more options, while the other is constantly whiny.

the difference between goth and emo is. goths are more angry. emos tend to be sad. goths do not cut themselves although to be emo you don't have to cut yourself. goths tend to where leather have very long hair. where emo's have a bit shorter hare and don't tend to try to look scary.
