emo means emotional, and doesnt mean you dress a certain way or cut yourself. gothic is a style of dressing, and i do not wanna look like that. plus even the emos that dress emo, the guys are pretty dang hot.
Why would you assuming the "emo" choice doesn't apply dressing emo, but the "gothic" choice does? Like you said you can be emo and not dress that way, gothic is a state of mind, not a dress code. Besides they dress so similarly regardless, one just has more options, while the other is constantly whiny.
I AM gothic, so, yeah...and, emo is a trend for the young, gothic is a lifestyle that can (and often does) last a lifetime, so yeah...Not going to emo bash, I promise.

Goth fashion is damned hot in almost every "subset" (romantic, cybergoth, fetish, etc). Steampunk > than both of these, though.
