Drowning is like the worst way to go down. if i was burnt alive propably i would stop feeling after a while, or if i could anticipate the impact and just free fall before that then that would be plain awesome.
Drowning is actually one of the most peaceful ways to die, so I would be happy doing that rather than being burnt to crisp, which you'd feel until you died. Plus the chances of living are higher, me being a woman, I could of got in a raft :L
While I would definitely rather drown than die in an explosion, the waters around the titanic were ice cold. It was an iceberg that sank it, after all. I can barely stand putting an icepack on an injury, so I could see that as being a rather painful way to go. That said, while in a normal case I would choose drowning, in this case I would rather die instantly on the Hindenburg than a bit slower in the frozen waters of the Atlantic.

dying on impact>drowning

I'd chose being instantly engulfed in flames over anything the Titanic disaster had to offer.

Dying in an instant (even by burning) > Trying to avoid drowning and then freeze to death.
