not if you look at it so that everybody can get cancer, whereas nobody you know will die of starvation

So we should only help people if it affects us?

Not really. We have the resources and technology to end world hunger. But not the technology to cure all forms of cancer yet.

i picked this because we can actually end world hunger, because we have more than enough food for billions of people in the world but we dont spread it evenly, yet curing cancer is a mystery.

@D'Vaughn, it's not selfish. Either choice is selfless. I chose red because a very close family friend passed away because of cancer.

Does it matter as long as you're helping people? Besides, it is easier to start in your own back yard but going big is still okay.

exactly, lets make this clear, WAAY more people die of starvation than cancer, yes cancer is bad, but world hunger is much worse. i dont see why this is a discussion?

    • 1

      Donald Neal

Slenderman, no they didn't. It went through multiple clinical trials and could not determine anything on the information they got. There is no "Cure" for cancer. Because cancer refers to a group of over 200 different diseases needing different treatment.

OMG HOW CAN NOBODY HAVE SAID THIS NATURAL SELECTION YOU IDIOTS IF THE ONES THAT GET CANCER GET EXTINCT WE WILL NOT HAVE TO DEAL WITH THEM. Yes, I know . This is out of morals but rather that than that people die for nothing, besides more die from that, anyways.

    • 0

      Yago Stecher

Erik, most forms of cancer are not hereditary, so there's no reason to support natural selection on this one. People will still get cancer, even after all the people with cancer die without a cure.

Ending world hunger would only work till the next war as it would require multiple nations to work together, where as finding the cure for cancer will help in the years to come and pass whether world hunger is fixed or not. Honestly the first option helps more people now but the cure to cancer will ultimately help more people in the future to come.

Ending world hunger implies permanently, if it was temporary it would have been stated, that's like saying curing cancer until it mutates to a new incurable strain.

well the choices flatly say "End world hunger" or "Find a cure for cancer", so right out the bat you can choose whether to END world hunger for sure, or still FIND a cure for cancer implying it hasn't been found yet..

Cure for cancer or end world hunger... so not only does world hunger affect more but also finding the cure for cancer does not mean its viable, it may be too expensive. At the same time ending world hunger could lead to more countrys trying to build up their economy and more wars.

Cancer will eventually be solved in the laboratory. World Hunger will need a change global paradigms. If your could just wish for one of two jobs to be done, wouldn't you wish for the harder one?

Ending world Hunger is an EXTREMELY difficult thing to do, and it would effect more ppl. Plus, ppl without food in Africa... those results are JUST as bad as cancer is.

  • 1

There probably 1 billion people suffering from starvation right now. And there are lots of people around the world that maybe have to eat thrash and food that none of you would even touch. Cancer is a rich worlds sickness. Curing world hunger would make the world a lot better place. Also since our medical skills are getting better every year, I think that cancer will be completely cured in maybe 10-20 years.

    • 0

      Danielrockerr

We have the "cure" for world hunger already. It's called food. Cancer is prevalent around the whole world, not just 'rich worlds'. Curing cancer would be a ground breaking biological and pharmaceutical discovery.

Ending world hunger would be easier if people just participated. Most Americans throw out perfectly good food instead of donating it. Definitely a cure for cancer.

  • 0

This is tricky. In advanced countries, it's more likely you will die of cancer than hunger. If you can afford a smartphone or computer, chances are you can afford a meal.Therefor you will choose "cure cancer" instead of global hunger even though more people for from hunger. Depends on point of view.

  • 0

    Ferreteh

I'm rather certain that starving is much more common than cancer, death rates or not. Besides, assuming that we're using realistic logic here and not magical powers, this would mean the industrialisation of third-world countries. I'm rather certain that this is much more profitable and revolutionary than the cure for cancer, with all due respect. I've got a cancerous grandmother and a family especially prone to cancer, so I could only be more convincing if I had cancer myself.

NFL players make enough money for food to actually end world hunger (this fact may have changed since i first heard it but probobaly not if they worked together) but not everyone can find a cure for cancer. Plus people in the future will also have cancer meaning that you can't say you will save more people either way. boom
