Think about a normal life in each. You can work your way into Star Fleet, but if you aren't born with enough midichlorians, you're not going to be a Jedi.
The Star Wars universe is more lax and casual, but I do risk being born into slavery. Suffice it to say that being born into the Star Wars universes is like playing the lottery.
I'm a huge fan of both. However, the Trek universe boasts food replicators and mass transmitters. Plus, they don't use money in the Federation. Star Wars is basically the American war of Independence in space followed by never-ending territorial squabbling. Though it would be cool to be a bounty hunter for a while.

Star Trek doesn't have Jawas.

Who says I give a crap about being a Jedi? True, it'd be a plus, but I'd be a bounty hunter at the very least.

Both would be awesome... but unless you can use The Force, Star Wars universe would loose it's appeal quickly. I'll take beeming up.

I already know a bunch of Star Wars trivia, so why not?

Only because the likeliness of becoming a Jedi is so small >.>

Though, I would much prefer the Doctor Who universe.
