The only reason you go to school is to get that good job if you can already get it more school is just wasting more money.

there's a job opening for a lab tech in a lab on my university's medical campus. the people applying for the job have PhD's and many have published more papers than the PI of the lab they're applying to. lab tech can be done by someone with a B.S. this might be just anecdotal, but having a PhD doesn't guarantee anything at all nowadays.

High paying jobs require lots of work and so does a PhD, but in the end would you rather be a wise man whom your kids think you are the smartest man on earth or a dad who wasn't there because he had to work...?

and not to say that you will be seen as a dad who didn't finish school, how would that work when you tell them to do their homework...

School is an atrocious thing, why would I continue through it meaninglessly and waste my time? I could take the job and teach myself far more, far faster.

If you stay and finish school you can get a high paying job and be smart if you leave well that would just be dumb.... And you will have a degree for that so if you get fired you can easily find a new job.... Just saying

Once you have the job you wouldn't need a PhD. And if you get fired, you can always go back and resume your college courses back from where you left off. And a degree plus experience is far more valuable to employers than just a degree.

I left my PhD 6months before I was supposed to end to make a company and have an high paying job that I love today. Best decision of my life. Still don't have a PhD, really don't care about it whatsoever.

The whole point of school is to get a career, and the whole point of a career is to get paid decently. And, since it's high paying, this is a no brainer.

College is a conspiracy. All it really wants is your money. The longer you're in college, the bigger hole of debt you have to crawl out of from student loans. Sure, work hard and get that PhD. Let's say you'll get about $100,000 a year and you're $137,000 in loans. Pay off $100,000 and you'll have $37,000 left to pay off, right? Nope. It'll be up $300,000 because of interest. You're an indentured servant in this economy when you finish college and have been brainwashed as a child, my friend. If you're guaranteed to get a high paying job from leaving school, then by all means take it.

What if you lose the job? With the PhD, you have the chance to get another.
