I can say from personal experience that being unimaginably tired and being physically incapable of sleep is torture. Literally. Falling asleep randomly is just an excuse to hire a chauffeur.

one word: chloroform
chuckhatesu
Chloroform?!? Why??
Whales
@chuckhatesu to knock yourself out so you can sleep.
Greg

Really? It feels like I'm dead or dying very slowly.

This is the reason why coffee was invented.
King_Seedeyeh
How would coffee help you fall asleep?
Franjo
This doesn't make sense... Coffee doesn't cure insomnia at all unless you were meaning something else
435
It's not about helping you fall asleep... It's about powering through your inability TO sleep and being productive. Obviously, neither of you have sleep issues.
guillenaish
i have insomnia and i know that coffee will not help that stuff. Only make it worse. In that situation you will want to have a really balls to the walls healthy diet to get the energy you need, not a cup of joe.
Muhammad Nur Zafran
you are stupid imsomnia is that you cant sleep

I'm pretty sure she ment coffee for narcolepsy haha

I used to have insomnia until I was prescribed some meds. It's fucking purgatory and nothing you do can help. Stayed up for 3 days straight and felt like I was dying, started hallucinating and seeing scary as fuck shit everywhere. At least there is somewhat of a med that helps narcolepsy. (Sodium oxybate I think)
Kyla Mainous
coffee doesn't help narcolepsy... or insomnia..
Jacob
But it's generally awesome though.

I can be slenderman :D

Even though narcolepsy is highly inconvenient, would limit my job options, and would keep me from ever driving again, Insomnia sucks way worse. I've battled with this problem for 10 years and would do anything to get rid of it. Changes in body chemistry from lack of sleep create mental and physical problems beyond anything that narcolepsy could create. I've never heard of anyone attempting suicide or murder because of narcolepsy.

not being able to sleep is torture, i have chronic insomnia, your to tired to do anything, you begin to forget what is reality and your mind begins to play tricks on you, you get into a state of sub-sleep wherte you are awake and probaly thinking really slowly but a lot and anthing will make you suddenly joust up scared
Patrick Keith Justad

I already have it, and personally I'd rather stay awake than fall asleep at random times and risk being rude to people.
Stolkmen
I think the ability to not sleep is torture (I agree) so I would make sure I am in safe situations where I can sleep (like no driving even though I don't anyway)
Wheatly

Falling asleep in class and then having the teacher yelling at you and be like "But sir I have narcolep-zzzzzz..." I'd be excited to go to school every day. Plus not having enough sleep would be hell.

Spencer
well if you know what insomnia is then its the opposite, fuck it ill jsut tell you, basically you fall asleep randomly when relaxed
ilovethedoctor77
Basically, you fall asleep at random times. Much better than not being able to sleep, in my opinion.
VoltStar
Both would suck, but falling asleep randomly and unexpectedly would be terrifying

Insomnia can lead to severe depression.
JMLOddity
Oh yeah, and it can cause you to die by putting you in extreme danger. The meds are life threatening. And you're dead tired all day everyday. Lose all your friends. With narcolepsy, your life passes by, and there's nothing you can do.
JMLOddity
Oddly enough, when I was a kid, I had insomnia. Now I have narcolepsy. I am telling you from experiencing BOTH, I would give anything to have insomnia again. Narcolepsy is unrelenting hell. Insomnia sucks too, but Narcolepsy is pure torture. It is NOT just take a nap or attacks. You don't take a nap, you fall asleep. You're body couldn't care less what's going on. Not to mention decreased immune system, paralysis, pain. Because with narcolepsy you're actually getting less sleep than normal, because you ve about 5 minutes of REM PER NIGH
JMLOddity
... I have narcolepsy... Lol oh and btw caffeine has 0 effect on people with narc. There's only two medications, if they don't work your screwed ( they usually don't) Narcolepsy really really sucks. I could only go to school for 2 hours back in high school, then go home and sleep till the next day. No social life at all, and always exhausted. I don't remember how it feels to not be exhausted.
Elinor Neilan

You can feel when narcolepsy attacks are coming on and you can go take a nap and miss school.
Timothy Lary
Why would you people rather have chronic insomnia?! At least with narcolepsy you can actually get some sleep!
Sonja Saari
I'd have narcolepsy, then become a math teacher in a prestigious academy for gifted birds.
unitsgore
narcolepsy isn't just randomly falling asleep it's a condition characterized by REM 'sleep attacks' which just means that you'll randomly feel tired throughout the day and will start to fall asleep but you can usually keep yourself from doing so (source: my psych class. if i got anything wrong here feel free to correct me)
Dario Grech
Insomnia eventually leads to insanity.
Greywolf928
I already do.

Many cases of chronic insomnia cases have an emotional or psychological basis. The disorders that most often cause insomnia are: Anxiety Depression Bipolar disorder Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder Post-traumatic stress disorder With narcolepsy, it only puts you to sleep at random times
