By getting 1 dollar every day, I'd probably just buy a daily can of Coke or something... By getting it at once, I'd do something more... intresting.

A quote sums this up quite nicely "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush."

If you wanted to sound smart Ben you should have said invest the $100 now in something about to have a reverse split in stocks thus making at least $200 in a few weeks.

      That assumes you are successful.

    • 3

      swaggergod

That assumes you do not have a terminal illness so you have limited time to spend the money anyways.

Present value of an annuity where PV= 1, R= 7% APR, N= 200, Payment = 1 you end up with roughly 207 dollars. Which is greater than a present value of 100.

    • 2

      xereeto

@Garrett, I'd get my regular income as well, it says nothing about that. So I take my extra dollar and put it in a jar, and in seven months I have an extra $200 (which I then need to convert to pounds)

this is stupid, nobody would wait 200 days just to get 200. its not even that much, and you'd spend so much of it before you reached day 200. I can go out into the street and FIND 1$ in the floor.

    • 0

The people that said $100 today are retarded. Even at an effective inflation rate of 5%, the present value $1 a day for 200 days is $197.27.

So 40% of the people voting are either so incredibly stupid that they can't multiply 1*200 and realize that is more than 100; or they are just so impatient they can wait 200 days to double their money.

There has been science on this, kids were given a bowl of lollies and told they could have some now or all in 15 min. Even knowing they would get all of them if they waited most of the kids gave in after a few minutes. They also found that the ones who waited were more likely to end up successful later in life, but the ones that didn't wait at all were likely to become delinquents and drop out of school. # The more you know.
