Prevent World War II
Win a life changing amount of money in a lottery
Does this include beating Hitler senseless? I really really hope so.
yeh i just dont get how people can be sooo greedy!!!
That would mean preventing America recovering from the great depression, which would in turn prevent the personal computer from being invented and refined into what it is today, AND it would mean no internet nor television, along with quite a few other things.
If the question asked: Would you rather prevent World War II or let it happen, I assure you the outcome would look very different. The majority of the 64% is just making rationalizations for why they picked the selfish choice.
@Joo Or, you know, we don't want to change history. That would have very drastic consequences and the present wouldn't be as we know it now, it might be worst.
I admit I am being greedy but I am also being logical. You see WW II helped The United States recover from the great depression as said by danny and rise to be a global power and if it had not then most of the other countries in the world had lost a reliable trading partner and war ally. So in the end I'm saying evertthing happens for a reason no matter how disastrous
Good in theory but think of all the more people adding to over population, all the tech that came from the war like Microwave, etc.
Can we stuff hitler in the closet
Danny, Computers don't depend on America, they would have been eventually invented anyway, on top of it, America recovering from the great depression wassn't good, it sunk the rest of the world, America issn't that great.
Andres, Computers were invented to help combat Hitler. In their current form, they depend on WWII. Maybe without that, someone would have invented something in the 60s, maybe even the 50s, but technological progress would be placed about 2 decades back from today without WWII, and would never be the same. America wasn't the only country taken by the Great Depression. Germany only recovered by making guns for its armies, as did Britain. WWII acted as a stimulus to the entire world economy, and world GDP would likely have been less in 1950 without it. And Andres, out of all the nations in the late 30s and early 40s, the United States was the least imperialistic and, outside of the South, also one of the least discriminatory.
Really people!! WWII is an event any one who lived through it in battle is scared for life. war is something no one should have to see or put up with. why do people be so selfish!
I'm with Danny, fucking with the past is a bad idea.
You genius, you...
@selflicky You shouldn't mess with the past and as Bob said Computers were made to help combat Hitler, if WWII never happened we would be 2 decades behind technology.
If you prevent WWII, then beating Hitler senseless would be cruel because he didn't do anything.
Without WWII we'd be way behind on technology and innovations.
The computer wasnt invented for Hitler.... technically the official meaning of a computer is something that computers. Back in the 1800's and even before, a computer was a person who "Computed" equations and algorithms. Also, The types of computers which we are using which are called "General Purpose Computers" werent even invented until long after the war so tell me how they would be used against Hitler?
Also Hitler did loads of evil shit before the war
wtf id beat you senseless. hitler was a great man who changed the world. even in defeat
The USA would not have gotten out of the Great Depression if World War II didn't happen.
^ same as above ^ AND i could help those less fortunate with my massive amount of money
WW2 was OK i mean who regrets holocaust right right
I picked the wrong one.
You don't know what would happen if you changed the past until its too late...
prevent world war 2 and you don't know how the world changes, but one thing i do know i wouldn't be born so i'd rather be rich than not exist.
Very good point.. But you would exist in the 1940's because you prevented the war dun dun duhhhh
no, the war not happening would completely change the world it is today. we could be having a world war 4 if world war 2 didnt happen the way it did for all we know. hell, we might even be more technologically advanced!
there would be no Sony and Nintendo
Changing world history is always a bad idea, never fuck with space time.
The Doctor taught me never to change the course of history.
And what happens to the current world if WW2 never happened? Things become very different. People who are alive today, perhaps are never born. Maybe even oneself. Best not to screw around with the past, no matter how horrible it is.
My grandparents (both sets) met because of the War. As bad as it was, my existence depends on it happening. So, money plox, I can make life better now for people with it.
The world really evolved after world war II.... you would be preventing that...
This plus we learned a lot from the tech and terrible experiments. Plus it helped keep the world depopulated for another generation.
Horrible as it sounds, @aaod, it is true. Without WW2, we would be much closer to the dangerous limit over over-population
How else would Germany but put in its place?
^Germans would be the Canadian's of today.
world war 2 had to happen. it's a fixed point in time, which couldn't ever be changed.
Remember what happened when you tried to change a fixed point?
I've seen enough SciFi to know that altering history isn't good. I might cease to exist.
Don't. Fuck. With. Time.
I agree with cruelparody
I would prevent the deaths of World War II, but not World War II itself.
War and death goes hand in hand.
Wtf? A war where no one died?
Winning 5 dollars can change your life..with it you can buy a couple gallons of gas and travel further than you would have without it. Then, because you got to go a little farther, nothing will be the same in your life as when you would have had to stop for gas earlier. Confused yet?
There is a difference between life changing and assisting. That $5 would just assist me but wouldn't change my life. Life changing would be getting millions of dollars and buying out a company.
please, $5 will only get you a drop of gas...
I'd too afraid to change anything in the past let alone something as significant as World War 2. The ButterFly Effect is far too dangerous and unpredictable here.
If I prevented WWII, some other war would take its place.
Without WW2 our economy would probably be worse than it is now and we'd loose a lot of war games.
What if there is someone worse than Hitler, but died in the war? Then he wouldn't have died, so we'd all be f*cked. Either that or something would happen and my mom wouldn't have met my dad. I agree with cruelparody, I'd rather be rich than dead.
Key word is IF
@Grickel, doesn't matter. Don't screw with history.
Oh my goodness you sickos
Lives are way more important than money.
Don't fuck with the past
World War 2 may have been horrible, but it also ended the Great Depression, gave us allot of new technology, created disco, and made Micheal Jackson famous.
Exactly! Also if you look at our time now, things are fixed. It may have been ugly during WW2 but hey, I'd only vote blue if Hitler won
If you know anything about history you know that WWII broke the US out of the Great Depression, and you have no idea what life would be like today. Some big war would've broken out eventually, maybe after nuclear technology was more advanced, and millions more would have died. So maybe think some before you call me a selfish asshole.
I hope all of you realize without world war two, the united states may have never been pulled out of the great depression
If it wasn't for WW2, bunch of us wouldn't even exist. The outcome could possibly be even worse than WW2, be careful what you wish for!
Never change the past.
I don't want to live on this planet anymore.
Computers, Jet Planes, Rockets, Everything that ever relied on nuclear technology, the UN, the end of Nazism, the end of Imperial Japan, the effective end of Fascism, the final end of the Great Depression, the social progress forced by having to confront the Holocaust, loads and loads and loads of smaller things: All thanks to WWII.
I sure as hell wouldn't prevent that. Hell, I would have taken the other choice even if it was bad for me.
Preventing World War 2 will not only alter the future in many unknown ways but it will also prevent many innovations to technology made during the war. With the bad comes the good, which is good because the bad is in the past and the good is here to stay.
I'd rather save millions of lives, y'all all probably voted for Obama
It is not greedy, it says preventing WW2 that means the holocaust would still happen except no one would stop it....not to mention everything about the present you would change. Nothing bad comes from a lot of money for myself.
Some people as just so selfish and greedy....
66% would actually winn money themselves rather than save millions of lives?! What a selfish world we live in...
Whoever picked winning the lottery is a inconsiderate, inhumane, greedy, and a sadist!
Except that changing the course of history is something that no one should ever do.
Hypothetical question: What if there was someone who was worse than Hitler, and by killing Hitler you enabled that person to take over? WWII would still happen, you see, as there were many other power hungry people in the government. Plus, since another war would just happen, Germany would probably have won because Hitler was a terrible strategist and tactician.
"sadist" you use that word but I don't think it means what you think it means. also WWII was responsible for so many good things that our economy, technology, and military would be decades behind where it is now. it was the greatest conflict in the history of the world but if it hadn't happened countries wouldn't have been driven to rise to the challenge and thus would have not made as many advances. think before you go making judgements.
If ww2 didn't happen, the world would easily have reached 10 billion people today and that would lead to a global famine and even more people would die.
We need holocaust jokes.
World war 2 was brutal but necessary for the countries to develop the way they did
Plus we wouldnt have to blindly back the Jews on everything just because we dont want them to think were anti-semetic
we back them because they're our only allies in the middle east and because if they fall to iran, the muslem brotherhood would control almost the entire area. you're fucking retarded; it has literally nothing to do with that
WUT THESE GUYS ARE SO DUMB
I'm off to the Bahamas, See ya!
without ww2 a lot of what we know today would be different, I wouldn't want to change that.
It may seem selfish to pick win the lottery but you can't just prevent the war and expect it to not have any effect on current society, it might end up being even worst
You should never mess with history no matter how bad it is or was
Everything happens for a reason
Without WWII the world would be a different place though. Mabe the soviets make a nuke and start WWII making it an even worse WWII than the WWII we are used to
my choice is not meant selfish, but if i would change the past, who knows what drastic consequences it could have on the future.
