It all depends on the definition of "excellent" - our TV sucks in general

Even if I could watch TV in the sunshine I'd still read the book. A book is what you make it. It actually enriches you by activating your creative imagination in new ways. Most TV is just someone telling you something. Bleh. It's not that TV can't have value, but most of it, even what most people would call excellent TV, willfully refuses to go beyond the banal. It's really all just repetitions of the same narratives. Not gonna get you anywhere.

a book takes you on an adventure through your mind and imagination the tv can't emulate that

The exact opposite is true, just because your to much of a derp to comprehend good literature to the point of having to have it be dumbed down so much that you are watching happen, doesn't mean that it is better. While I will agree there is nothing quite like hearing and seeing the characters interact, there also is nothing like imagining the event in your head however you see fit to an extent.

A movie may provide more visual stimulation but a book let's your imagination run wild. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Brian, either your completely illiterate, or your an idiot, or you only read crap, or you only read picture books. The only movie that I can think of that was better than the book is lord of the rings. And that's cause I saw the movie first before reading the book. Worst mistake ever

That was possibly the most retarded comment I have ever heard... Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Hunger Games, The Da Vinci Code series, Twilight (which one is less horrible),Game of Thrones. There are rare instances where the movie is better than the book. Like The Godfather for instance.

Sorry, but to me, Sunny days aren't beautiful. I like cloudy days. Those are a good time to lay out and read. It doesn't get too hot and no feeling the sun burning your skin.

Good luck dying from skin cancer and itchy skin due to grass and ant bites just saying

    • 0

      Jacob

I'm pretty sure the risk of getting skin cancer from lying in the grass is considerably lower than the risk of severe Vitamin-D deficiency from not being outside enough.

  • 1

58% of you are lying, instead of going outside today and reading, you are on your computer.

  • 1

    AtheistPanda

Ants are the enemy. If I get bit, I swell up horribly. No laying in the grass for me. Also, skin cancer. If the choice were to pick between reading and TV, reading would win.

    • 2

      nashcali22

You are not going to get skin cancer but having a little fresh air and a little sun. People lived for hundreds and hundreds of years without TV or " indoors" why can't we today?
