The people who made Rock Band started Guitar Hero, Harmonix made GH1, GH2, and GH:RT80's. Then they sold the license to Neversoft, then Harmonix started making Rock Band.

Songs are better on GH, plus you can use other instruments as well, for those that don't know by now... It's been that way for a few years.

guitar hero has more games, better songs, guitar hero metallica anyone? and i find the rockband guitars are too stiff for the buttons, guitar hero has looser buttons plus guitar hero has memorable characters that are in every game. i have only had on rock band game and my life and it never worked for me, not the right stuff for me to enjoy it

Considering the following: It's really easy to get custom songs of pretty much EVERY song ever released on Guitar Hero for Rock Band. Fully working and fully animated with instruments added to previously guitar-only songs. The Pro Guitar/Bass and Keyboard instruments. The absolutely MASSIVE Rock Band DLC library. The fact that Guitar Hero has been discontinued and Rock Band hasn't. Yeah. Rock Band, definitely Rock Band.
