id hate to have people walking in my hospital room just staring at me with pity. id rather have a quick easy death. friends and family could mourn and move on instead of forever mourning.

I've had that happen to me before and it's honestly the worst feeling I've ever experienced
Zak Soenario
Boiled down its a choice between life and death. I'd take living every time even if it includes being an inert mute retard
Blackjackz
...why? that is today's torture, it's apparent you haven't gone through anything MAJOR
chickedy2534
Don't forget being a vegetable!
ricky
you like to be a vegetable?
Geezjam
Vegetabling is uncomfortable

I guess you guys just really believe you'll be going to heaven when you die. Otherwise you must just not like life. By the way, a guy with this syndrome wrote a book, which was also made into a film: "The Dive Bell and the Butterfly", I believe it was called.

Well, assuming that we never find a cure, dying right away seems the better way to go. But in all actuality, we're getting pretty close to giving them a lot more power. Not restoring them to the way they were before locked in syndrome, but hooking them up to computers in such so they can type and surf the web.

Someone's been watching house.
Jadeylady
I think it'd be better for friends and family too, it'd suck to watch someone live like that.

No cure in sight =/= no cure EVER. You people give up to easily.
Mossy
too* easily. Please.

My biggest fear has to be living as a vegetable/life support/locked in. I will always choose dying over suffering.

A SAS captain once told me that, when training in the mountains, he doesn't fear the big falls because he knows he'll die right away but for the smaller ones, he's cautious because living life as an inert drain on resources is no existence.

...down syndrome isnt acquired from blunt force trauma, its a genetic defect

The thought of having locked in syndrome is terrifying to me. I'd hate to be conscious, but completely paralyzed.

I WANT TO BE A GOD DAMN CARROT!
Angharad Reed
Bit harsh considering a man just died from this after losing his court case about being able to kill himself..
Anon
I don't want to be a retard. I'd rather go to heaven.
Doctor_Sherlock
You won't go to heaven if you keep calling people retarded.

Car hits me when I'm 101 years old

Assuming that my senses would still work, it wouldn't be too bad. I'd just listen to radio or watch TV all day. Just gotta hope that the nurse remembers to turn those on.
Vin Shaw
As long as I see my mom and dad and relatives still, I'm okay.

Rather just die.
Matthew Robinson
The first choice is worded so weirdly, I have no idea what it means
Jake Hallock
I'd probably go insane from the situation, that could be kinda fun.
SumthinMstBAvailable
Having to watch a family member go through something similar . . . I would no wish that upon the people around me.
Tad Emerson White
I picked my answer before I knew what locked in syndrome was. Death would mean going to heaven, and that seems a lot better than living such a horrible life.
Jacob
Religious life must really be weird.
Leonard Leijenhorst
Nobody's saying it cant be cured.
fart face
discription -_-
Leonard Leijenhorst
"no cure in sight" is NOT EQUAL to "without a cure". Don't give up too easily.

You're worse than dead if you can't move or speak. Why not just end the suffering?
Jacob
How is it worse than death?
BraindeadBogan
euthanasia is always an option (in some countries)
Justin
More time with my fam
ARSP
Quick death it is

I'd communicate through blinking to get people to entertain me all day. Then when I have enough, close my eyes.

At least you will have time to say good bye to your famelly and friends and tell them you love them
FunnyJunker
You dumb ass. How the fuck are you supposed to say goodbye to your family if A: You will live as a muted retard for the rest of your life and B: You can't talk or move?
Apple Jack
Easy there FunnyJunker, if I didn't know any better I'd think you were an incredibly obnoxious asshole.
idpiasg
What car and holy s**t it's headed right for me! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Isn't that called a catatonic stupor? Anyway, I'd hate to be a vegetable for most or all of my lifetime.
Jacob Nyberg
That's a persistive vegetative state. I'd rather die.
gellie
I actually know someone who has this syndrome.
emmawalters
I should be allowed to think.
Sam Sewall
Cybernetic enhancements!
Paige
I wouldn't want to live like that, I'd rather die right when the car hits me..
Matt
Been there done that
RealityWarping
At least I'd die quicker and probably more peacefully because I don't feel my life would be worth living with locked in syndrome.
