Locked in syndrome: not able to speak or move. Only able to blink if even that.

id hate to have people walking in my hospital room just staring at me with pity. id rather have a quick easy death. friends and family could mourn and move on instead of forever mourning.

I've had that happen to me before and it's honestly the worst feeling I've ever experienced

Boiled down its a choice between life and death. I'd take living every time even if it includes being an inert mute retard

I guess you guys just really believe you'll be going to heaven when you die. Otherwise you must just not like life. By the way, a guy with this syndrome wrote a book, which was also made into a film: "The Dive Bell and the Butterfly", I believe it was called.

Well, assuming that we never find a cure, dying right away seems the better way to go. But in all actuality, we're getting pretty close to giving them a lot more power. Not restoring them to the way they were before locked in syndrome, but hooking them up to computers in such so they can type and surf the web.

I think it'd be better for friends and family too, it'd suck to watch someone live like that.

My biggest fear has to be living as a vegetable/life support/locked in. I will always choose dying over suffering.

A SAS captain once told me that, when training in the mountains, he doesn't fear the big falls because he knows he'll die right away but for the smaller ones, he's cautious because living life as an inert drain on resources is no existence.

The thought of having locked in syndrome is terrifying to me. I'd hate to be conscious, but completely paralyzed.

Assuming that my senses would still work, it wouldn't be too bad. I'd just listen to radio or watch TV all day. Just gotta hope that the nurse remembers to turn those on.

I picked my answer before I knew what locked in syndrome was. Death would mean going to heaven, and that seems a lot better than living such a horrible life.
