In either case you're alone in the car and it's night time.

I feel like the combined risk of dying or getting arrested versus just dying makes the sleepy option more attractive. Also, just get a box o' joe from Dunkin' Donuts and go wild.

Actually, if you are driving while you are so tired you can't safely operate your car, you can be arrested for reckless driving even if you're stone cold sober.

You are right. But I have driven both drunk and sleepless. Drunk doesn't affect my mental alertness that much. But being sleepy almost caused me an accident a few times. Also, it doesn't say at what speed.

You're five times more likely to be in a car accident when you're tired than drunk.

Your stat comes from the amount of drivers on the road. More people drive tired than drunk.

The police would probably understand more. That is, if it's just from working or something like that and not being high on meth.

A 200 mile trip would suck but think about it, 200 miles is only like a 3 1/2 hour drive if you're on the highway. Sure, it would be agonizing after not getting any sleep but it's not like you're traveling across the country. (Also, I voted wrong)

253 thousand people don't even know how bad sleep deprivation of 72 hours is. I would rather drive 200 miles drunk ten drive 3 days sleep deprived. if you think about it its a bigger risk driving while falling asleep every minute and waking up with a close call, you would get into a car accident driving sleep deprived that long, I would know.

It depends on how well you can handle sleep deprivation to be honest. If you get into a car drunk and drive for 200 miles you will probably crash and die anyway

I can use strong stimulants like amphetamine to keep myself awake. It's actually common practice among truck drivers.

I chose the sleeping option, because after a while you can just pull over and sleep in the car, or go to a Hotel of some sorts.

If you don't sleep for more than three days you get severe hallucinations and you pretty much lose your mind by being awake any longer than that. Your death would be guaranteed.

But then with drink you risk being pulled over and arrested as well as death whereas sleep deprived you only risk death...

I mean, if I'm driving 200 miles one assumes I'm going to sober up, whereas after 72 hours I'm just going to get more tired. Your reaction time is screwed either way, best you can do is hope those 200 miles don't involve a lot of traffic.

The question does. It says that you have to drive 200 miles after being awake 72 hrs STRAIGHT. If you stop to take a nap, it's not straight any more.

In my country the legal limit for drivers under 21 is 0 so having two bottles of beer is well over the legal limit for me but it wouldn't affect driving ability.
